Liberator Communication Aids

wide range of vocabulary options are available on communication devices from
Liberator.
Communication devices range
from simple message recording systems to dynamic display and static keyboard
devices that support Picture and Word Power, Mini Speak and text – based
programmes.
Key Word Signing
· Key
word sign is the use of Auslan signs to sign key words in spoken sentences,
combined with body language and facial expressions. It is designed to support spoken
language.
Many people may be familiar with
Makaton signing. Makaton Signing was
renamed keyword signing in 2010. Key
word sign highlights only the key words / concepts using signs.
It also encourages language development and
supports more positive communication interactions for children or adults who
have communication support needs.
Key
word sign can be used with a range of modes of communicating including
gestures, pictures, symbols, written words and speech in order to support
communication.
Auslan
· Auslan
is the sign language of the Australian Deaf Community. It has a distinct grammar and vocabulary to
English. At various times our school has
supported deaf students who have received services from Auslan Interpreters.
